It’s time to do a simple visualisation exercise.
I’d like you to imagine that you’ve just walked through a swanky open-plan office and you open the door into a large boardroom. There’s nobody in the room, but there are 12 seats around a large table. You walk around the room trying to figure out what’s going on and then you notice a placard with your name on it and it’s placed at the head of the table.
The door opens and people start piling into the room.
You realise that everyone is there for you. This is your team, this is your meeting.
You’re planning for a new product launch, national press campaign and global expansion.
But here’s the question…
Who’s in the room?
If you’re not sure of the names of the people you’d like around the table, the partnerships will probably never form.
If you’re not clear about the job titles of the staff team you’d like to support you 2 years from today, you’ll probably not arrive in their scenario.
This exercise stumps a lot of people. It’s supposed to get you to think and shift gears.
If you don’t see yourself as a successful entrepreneur, you’re unlikely to be one.
I’d like to encourage you to do this exercise every month until your dream becomes a reality.
The PARTNERS tab in your Journey Template will help you to outline the different CATEGORIES. You can then list specific COMPANIES for each of these who could be relevant PARTNERS. Once you have your options laid out, you should work out who the KEY PEOPLE are, in these organisations.
Your list of dream PARTNERS should be 100-300 COMPANIES and KEY PEOPLE across various CATEGORIES.
Clarifying the names of specific individuals is the first part of the process of RESEARCH > REACH OUT > RELATIONSHIP.
RESEARCH might involve finding out ways you could connect with people via email, phone, LinkedIn. You can fill out information in the tab to make notes on people who might be able to offer an introduction based on an existing relationship.
REACH OUT is when you’re getting your foot in the door and getting conversations started. Through 1-2-1 consultations on Zoom and through our BOARDROOM Program, we can show you and help you to get conversations with your dream partners. Having conducted 41 meetings in 6 days on a trip to Nashville, I have some extremely effective methods when it comes to appointment setting which you can adopt and implement.
RELATIONSHIP is essential when looking at achieving your long-term goals. Short-term partnerships can be beneficial, however, it is rare that deals get signed and value is achieved without a solid foundation.
If you want to be clear who you should prioritise, please score each of the analysis columns out of 5.
